The First Day

Today may seem like an ordinary day to you. Yet it needn't be, it could be the 'first day'. A new beginning.
Take the story of Lydia from Acts 16: 11-15. Set in Philippi, a retirement community on the via Egnation Way, somewhere to the east of Rome.
It was just another day for Lydia, well just another worship day. She had her business to run, trading in purple cloth, it was on her mind, all those orders to fulfill, did she even have time for this? Have you ever felt like that, it's just another worship day, do I have the time, I've got so much to do?
Lydia goes to her place of worship, by the river, and meets her friends.

Somebody else arrives with his friends. His name is Paul, and he talks about God.
Lydia had heard it all before, but today was no ordinary day. The bible says, 'the Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul'. Lydia and her household were baptized, and she opened her home up to Paul and his friends.
Years later Paul wrote to the church in Philippi and remembered Lydia, 'I thank God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you, because of your sharing in the gospel from the first day until now'.
Philippians 1:3-5.
Every time you feel like today is an ordinary day, then visit our Trinity website, or this blog. Who knows, the Lord may open your heart to look with eagerness on ministry opportunities at Trinity, and it may become not just an ordinary day, but a first day for you,

Peace,
David
